It’s time for our big June is Audiobook Month event, Hear the Talk, sponsored by Tantor Audio! A series of six recorded chats over the remaining three weeks of June, we’re starting it today with Hear the Authors Talk. Four audio authors, Anne Stuart, Jennifer Ashley, Pamela Clare, and Julie James join me today to talk about audiobooks from an author’s point of view.
On Friday we will feature our next in entry in our Hear the Talk event – four narrators who are paired with these authors on a number of Tantor titles – Xe Sands, Karen White, Kaleo Griffith, and Angela Dawe.
The last two weeks of June, we will feature author/narrator talks from all four of our author/narrator teams so keep watching.
Now it’s time to listen. For those of you stopping by to listen to one of your favorite authors chat today, you may be new to audio and, if so, please page down to see four sample narrations – one from each author. Listen and we dare you not to get hooked!
Edited to add: You may download any of our chats easily to your MP3 player. Or, you can listen on your phone directly from AudioGals. I just listened to the entire Hear the Authors Talk (again) in my car as I ran errands – didn’t even need earbuds!

Thanks to you and to the authors for a very interesting chat! I’m really looking forward to the next in the series :)
This was a wonderful chat to listen in on. Thanks to all who were involved and I’m really looking forward to the narrators chat next!
This was a lot of fun! Thanks so much to Julie, Anne, Jennifer and to Brenda and Vicky! Thanks, too, to Tantor Audio. I had a blast!
Listening while recording was a lot of fun!
I’m really happy with how it turned out considering the six different computers / setups involved along with the differing environments / surroundings for each of us … the geek in me speaking. :D
I won’t admit to how many times I’ve listened through the original hour while tweaking down to 38 minutes but it never grew old and it made adding the various bookmarks listeners can jump to easy.
As an aside: I chose between the Tantor or Audible samples based on which provided the most appealing scene for their clip.
The narrator of Anne Stuart’s On Thin Ice – Xe Sands posted a great clip on her Soundcloud account for those interested in a longer sample – Finn’s delicious voice teasing Beth during a trying situation … and one of my favorite scenes. ;)
The longer version
A shorter version of the same scene
You can find more details about On Thin Ice and Anne’s other titles at her website
Brenda, I can only imagine how much work that was! Thanks so much!
My pleasure Pamela – I finished editing the narrators chat last night – your going to love it! :)
So excited!!! :-)
At Julie James website you can find the audiobook clip from each of her books included with their other details. Look in the right sidebar
The FBI/US Attorney series:
Something About You
A Lot Like Love
About That Night
Love Irresistibly
And her two stand alone titles:
Practice Makes Perfect
Just the Sexiest Man Alive – waiting on the sound clip
My many thanks (once again) to our participating authors! I just edited this piece to add that these chats can be downloaded to your MP3 player. Or, you may want to listen directly from AudioGals on your phone. I just did so as I ran errands – didn’t even need earbuds!
And my special thanks to our Gal Tech, Brenda. We could not do these chats without her expertise before, during, and especially after!
I hadn’t thought of that Lea – listening directly from AuioGals via your phone or other wireless devices – excellent idea!
I didn’t find any extra audiobook clips at Pamela Clare’s website but she has some fun extras in the form of book trailers etc.
Sadly, I don’t know how to put up audiobook clips. I’ll be looking into them. But here are the links at Tantor (in order):

I hope to get sound samples on my website soon.
Sorry for the delay with this post Pamela. Our WordPress theme holds comments with multiple links until we approve them – even our own – and I’m just getting the chance to check back in.
Soundcloud is a good choice for audio clips. ;)
Jennifer Ashley’s website is also full of extras – wow I could spend all day there – but it’s off to work for me now.
Well, I’m so glad I finally got to finish listening to this, because now I’m REALLY looking forward to my first RWA! I’ve been so looking forward to Kaleo’s reading of the MacKinnons, and now there’s a chance to meet him? Super!
(And of course to meet and interact with the authors, too. But that part I already knew about.)
Fun interview – thanks for all the work to get it out!
