  1. This is very useful, Brenda – thank you! I remember doing this several years ago, but I’ve forgotten since then. It’s a pain having to use iTunes, though – I don’t use it for anything else.

    1. Caz did you belong to Audible back when they packaged the ability to burn audiobooks to CDs within Audible Manager? That was nice!

Then software to burn with became a paid upgrade. Now they don’t offer it at all. There are other programs that burn to CD but it’s been so long since I’ve looked into them it would take some research to find one. :)

      1. I think I joined in 2009 – but it may be different in the UK, because we always seem to be behind with things! I seem to remember only ever having the iTunes option. I don’t have anything from the iFamily (don’t like being stuck with having to have iEverything!) so having to download iTunes just to burn CDs is a bit of a pain.

One of my cars is quite old and doesn’t have a CD player in any case, so I’ve got one of those little transmitters that I plug my mp3 player into. Most of the time it’s okay, except in some areas where there are a lot of local radio stations that push into the signal!

        1. I love those FM transmitters Caz – still use one in DH’s truck. My youngest son had a stereo installed in my car that lets me plug my player into the auxiliary jack – the height of luxury. :D

What brand of MP3 player do you use? I love gadgets and though I’ve fallen prey to iFamily because of family ;)
I have other players I use regularly. A Sansa Clip+ and Cowon J3 being my favorites – love being able to delete a book directly from from the device for one.

          1. I used to use a Creative Vision M and a Creative Nano and I loved them. My Vision M gave up the ghost a few months back, and I got a Sansa Clipzip 8G and have put a 32GB SD card in it. I do like it, but I do miss some of the features of the Vision M. But still, it’s pretty good.

Our newer car has a CD player in, but I don’t always use that, so the transmitter is very useful.

  2. I would do this more often if it weren’t such a time-consuming activity. I don’t like having to sit there and pop CDs (usually at least 10+) in and out, mark them, etc. Am I the only one who finds this tedious?

That being said, I prefer CDs for commuting and road trips since it’s much easier than dealing with my phone or iPod. So, I suppose it’s just a necessary evil that I should stop whining about, right? :)

    1. Sarah taking the time to burn audiobooks to CDs definitely needs to be a multitasking operation. Bill paying or catching up on correspondence at the computer while popping the discs in and out or kicked back with a book in hand. ;)

.At least the cost of blank CDs in bulk has come way down so combining them with the cost of an Audible title is a bargain for those wanting a hard copy.

    2. Nope, you’re not the only one. I find it difficult to do the CD burning in combination with doing other things because my computer is upstairs in the room I use as an office, which means lots of running up and down stairs if I want to do chores as well!
