There’s just something about a Renee Raudman narration that draws us in and makes us want to keep listening. Narrating since 2006, Renee has around 300 audiobooks to her name with more than 70 romance titles. When we see her name attached to an audiobook, we know it will be the highest quality when it comes to performance and production. She’s the voice of some of our favorites including Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels and The Edge series as well as Lisa Kleypas’ Blue-Eyed Devil and Jennifer Cruisie’s Manhunting. Today, we’re welcoming Renee as a new Narrator Friend – check out her page here at AudioGals.
A Week of Renee Raudman
We have a full week of Renee Raudman events planned including a two-part recorded talk, three giveaways, an overview of Renee’s romance narrations, a take on the highly popular Kate Daniels‘ series, and eleven audio reviews. You’ll find the week’s schedule after today’s interview.
Talking with Renee Raudman
Each time we record an AudioGals talk, Brenda is in the background recording, directing, and after the fact, producing the final product. Although today’s talk features Renee talking with me, you will hear both of us occasionally respond to Brenda as our time with Renee ended up being a fun-filled two plus hour chat between the three of us. Once we were done, Brenda whittled it down to an hour and we have split it into two parts. Part II will run tomorrow.
Part II includes a talk about Renee’s ability to voice those highly desirable heroes, her preparation and recording process, and Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels and The Edge series from her perspective – among other things.

How have I missed Renee Raudman! I’ll be rectifying that…off to audible now ^_^ Thanks audio gals!
I have always loved audiobooks, and now that I’m directly involved as a narrator, I devour them with greater relish than before. It is a kind of decadent homework, and I find I learn a lot more from listening to proven narrators than chatting with a colleague. There are so many different styles, methods and tactics, and it’s good to learn by listening. Thank you for hosting this giveaway!
Something magical seems to happen whenever Renee channels a character’s pet. In both DOGS AND GODDESSES and HOMER (the blind kitty), the pets have dialogue that absolutely rivals the humans’! :)
I love Renee. It was interesting to hear about her process and upcoming projects.
Yes, please!
I really enjoy your narrations of Catherine Coulter’s books.
How did you get started? Are you an actress first and foremost? A reader? did you read some kids nighttime stories?
Hello! What an amazing week’s it’s been! How do I even begin to thank everyone at Audiogals who have so graciously put together this week’s event. I can’t tell you how truly touching this is for me. In addition, I am humbled beyond words at the amount of work that has gone into making this week both exciting and special!
I too, am moved by your support and positive comments about my work. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
Linda: I loved your comment about the pets! Thank you!
Katherine: I found myself really enjoying audio-style performances at a fairly young age. I would then enjoy trying to replicate them on my own little tape recorder. But I never thought about doing it professionally. Even when I began an acting career! However, I got a chance to audition for a voice over job, and booked it! What fun it was to record that very first commercial. And then a few more followed, and I continued to pursue this new avenue of entertainment. Eventually, I branched out into cartoons and video-games. I while I loved my theatrical on-camera work, it was exciting to get to be dozens of different characters behind the mic, that I’d never get to be in front of the camera.
I would say (and I think most narrators would agree) that we consider ourselves actors and actresses first. And then we adjust our performances depending on the medium we perform in. Whether that’s a prime time television show, a radio commercial, a soap opera… or a narrator of audiobooks. Great question!
