What audiobooks are you excited about this month? Here are a few titles we feel are good bets based on authors, narrators, personal knowledge, reviews of story content, or sometimes… just gut instinct.
Suddenly One Summer by Julie James
Narrated by Karen White
It’s no secret that both Julie James and Karen White are greatly liked here at AudioGals. Being a Julie James virgin, I’ve determined to make Suddenly This Summer my first Julie James experience which will no doubt be enhanced by Karen White’s talented narration – BJ
It wouldn’t be summer without the duo of Julie James and Karen White! James’ writing is well-plotted and witty and White is familiar with her style and makes each character shine even more. I LOVE these two together – Diana
Julie James and Karen White are always a winning combination for me. I haven’t ever been disappointed – Lea
One of my top four picks for the month – Brenda
#Nerd by Cambria Hebert
Narrated by Chandra Skyye and Eric Michael Summerer
Well, the title alone caught my attention. Sounds fun right off the bat. “Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together?” Awesomeness! I am looking for something different than the usual contemporary love story this month – perfect girl meets hunky guy! That can get old really quick as a reviewer – Jo
I’m excited to see a series that focuses on social media, something that plays a huge part in all our lives. Narrator Chandra Skyye is very accomplished, and I’m hopeful that the narrator chosen to work alongside her will be just as good – Shannon
There is something unique about Cambria Hebert’s voice, particularly the varied styles and her sexy tone – Victoria
Based on our reviewers’ interest in #Nerd when we were choosing our June Review books recently, I have to believe there is something really special about this one and I’ll definitely be listening – Lea
The Hooker and The Hermit by LH Cosway and Penny Reid
Narrated by George Allen and Lucy Rivers
Having just read and greatly enjoyed Penny Reid’s Elements of Attraction series, I was excited to see that one of her back titles – The Hooker and the Hermit, co-authored with LH Cosway, was released earlier this month by Tantor Audio. I can’t wait to dig into what I have heard is a witty and humorous, sports romance – BJ
I discovered Cosway and Reid last year and have been so impressed with what I heard. Having the two of them together – combining Cosway’s imaginative storylines with Reid’s wonderful humor – is sure to amuse me for hours on end. I’m hopeful that Allen and Rivers will be able to capture the energy of their writing – Diana
Hmmm – sports romance and Penny Reid – sounds irresistible. I’m definitely giving this one a try – Lea
Only a Promise by Mary Balogh
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Mary Balogh’s Survivor’s Club series is one of the best currently running in historical romance, and Only a Promise looks set to be another thoroughly enjoyable addition. I’m a big fan of the Marriage of Convenience plot line anyway, and coupled with what is bound to be stellar narration by Rosalyn Landor, this is sure to be another superb listen – Caz
This is a terrific month for new audiobook releases from some of the top Romance authors, read by the best narrators – and Balogh and Landor are the tops – Melinda
The Trouble with Valentine’s Day by Rachel Gibson
Narrated by Kathleen Early
My fellow AudioGals reviewers have been enjoying the release of Rachel Gibson audiobooks and it’s my turn to get excited. They speak highly of the narrator, and The Trouble with Valentine’s Day is a favorite of mine – Kaetrin
I’m a big Rachel Gibson fan and with the recent releases of See Jane Score and Daisy’s Back in Town, I’ve become a fan of Kathleen Early as well. The Trouble with Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite Gibson titles – I’m greatly anticipating this one – Lea
Carry Me Home by Rosalind James
Narrated by Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante
I haven’t read or listened to anything by this author before but I enjoy romantic suspense and the narrators are Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante. Enough said! – Kaetrin
I echo Kaetrin’s thoughts – exactly – Lea
Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis
Narrated by Karen White
I like Jill Shalvis. She’s clever, she makes me think, and she makes me laugh. I’ve been looking forward to this release – Lisa
Another great author/narrator combo – I think fans of small town, contemporary romance with humor will enjoy – plus, new series! – Melinda
Out of Control by Shannon McKenna
Narrated by Nelson Hobbs
This is my favourite Shannon McKenna book so I’m very excited to finally hear Davy talk sexy to Margot IN MY EARS!! – Kaetrin
McKenna’s ultra alpha heroes and memories of reading this in print many years ago mean I’ll be listening to this one now that it is being released in audio format – Lea
Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley
Narrated by Kate Russell
KA’s soon-to-be released third installment in the Chaos series is sure to get a good bit of attention. Additionally, Kate Russell’s prior experience with narrating KA’s titles, is also likely to make this title a good choice for audio format. I, for one, can’t wait to sit back and listen to the MC world again via KA’s witty and distinctive writing – BJ
Kate Russell has narrated five other Ashley titles and I was well pleased with her performance of each. I look forward to hearing her again with the third in the Chaos series – Brenda
Attraction: Elements of Chemistry by Penny Reid
Narrated by Cris Dukehart
I can not wait to hear Penny Reid’s latest audio versions of Elements of Chemistry, all three parts – Victoria
I am reading the Elements of Chemistry now – (I’m on Part 2) and I understand the excitement behind this New Adult series – or should I say one book in three parts. Tantor has scheduled the release of Book 2 (Part 2 to my way of thinking…) in July and Book 3 in August. I see Cris Dukehart as an excellent narrator choice – Lea
Beyond the Cut by Sarah Castille
Narrated by Chandra Skyye
I haven’t been a fan of motorcycle club books, but after reading/listening to Exquisite Trouble by Ann Mayburn and Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde, I am now a newly hooked Biker Chick Lit enthusiast. I’m keen to see how this book compares to the two I’ve read – Jo
A Sorceress of Her Own by Dianne Duvall
Narrated by Kirsten Potter
Duvall writes some of the best paranormal romances out there. I’ve been a fan of hers for a while and was very excited when she released this title, a sort of spin-off to her Immortal Guardian series! Even better, the fabulous Kirsten Potter is continuing the series! – Diana
Adam by Jennifer Ashley
Narrated by Eric Dove
I started reading this first book in Ashley’s new Riding Hard series (centered around famous trick riding brothers) but the story set up/character establishment didn’t grab me and I drifted away. Now in audio with trusted narrator Eric Dove, I know he’ll skim me right over those hiccups and I’ll enjoy the story – Brenda
The Pact by Karina Halle
Narrated by Lidia Dornet and Shaun Grindell
I love this author’s writing. Her characters are so raw and real. I’m disappointed not to see Veronica Den narrating this, but I’m sure the chosen narrators will do it justice – Shannon
I’ll Stand by You by Sharon Sala
Narrated by Amy Rubinate
The premise for this story sounds intriguing. I have listened to several books narrated by Amy Rubinate and I really like her – Lisa
Shards of Hope by Nalini Singh
Narrated by Angela Dawe
This is a very popular series/author/narrator combo – I expect great things from this release – Melinda
Rock Courtship by Nalini Singh
Narrated by Justine O’Keef
I was drawn to this series last month when AudioGals ran an interview with the author, Nalini Singh. The sample of the first book sounded very enticing! I loved the narrator’s voice and style from just the few minutes that I listened to! I am a huge fan of Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick series, so I’m looking forward to getting a chance to listen to one of the Rock Kiss series:) – Jo
Moonlight on Nightingale Way by Samantha Young
Narrated by Elle Newland
I absolutely love Samantha Young’s On Dublin Street Series. And the narrator of most of the books is Elle Newland. She happens to be the best narrator EVER! – Lisa
Unlit Star by Lindy Zart
Narrated by Johanna Parker
This is an author I’m not familiar with, but something in the synopsis called to me. It promises to be a beautiful, if painful, story. I’ve listened to several of Johanna Parker’s narrations and have never been disappointed. So, I’m pretty sure this will turn out to be a great listen. – Shannon
We’d love to know your June Picks!
Lea Hensley
There are a good handful of books that I want to listen to on this list! I’ve already listened to Nalini Singh’s Shards of Hope, which was excellent. I’ve also listened to Julie James’ new one,and enjoyed it, though it’s not my favorite. I am interested in the Penny Reid/L.H. Cosway collaboration narrated by Lucy Rivers and George Allen. However, I don’t know much about them and I’ve become pretty picky about the narrators I listen to so I’ll probably wait for feedback. I hope you give us a review! I looked the other Penny Reid book up on Audible, but it’s not listed there yet. I guess it’s not been released yet. It’s a good month!
Thank you so much for featuring #Nerd!! I do hope you enjoy it if you give it a listen! I am currently listening and I think the narrator chosen for Romeo’s voice is AMAZING! so fun!
Thank you for featuring A Sorceress of His Own! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying my Immortal Guardians series, Diana!!
:D I adore them all!
