I just finished Sweet Dreams, narrated by Emma Taylor. I’d read the book but the listening experience enriched the story immensely. She has the voices down for each character perfectly. I am now into Jagged and notice that the hero this time, “Ham” sounds very much like Tate from SD, but I don’t really mind since the voice she uses is spot on for this character as well. I’d like to see a review of the other KA titles that are not narrated by Emma Taylor if these come available for your reviewers. Thanks for the intelligent and informative reviews. I count on them to choose my listening.
I just finished the Hooker and the Hermit and am interested to know what BJ thought of it. I selected the book due to the rave 5 star reviews on Audible and Goodreads, and I almost always agree. This time, the book for me was a C+/B- and perhaps this is due the narrators sounding much older than the mid-twenties age of the main characters. I just didn’t feel their connection.
In comparison, prior to this book, I listened to the “Moment of Letting Go” and was completely swept away by this story, could feel all the emotion, and loved the narration. I too count on your reviews to guide my listening choices and sincerely love this website!
Hi Susan. While not a top favorite, I did enjoy the book. One thing that did surprise me, however, was the underlying BDSM theme, which I completely didn’t realize was part of the story based on the blurb (though I have to say that it was tame compared to most BDSM books presently out there). As for the narration, I hear you, I wasn’t totally convinced with the narration either, though I couldn’t quite put my finger on why. The age of the narrators per se didn’t bother me, and I definitely enjoyed some parts of their narration as you will see in the review, but for me it was just missing a certain unidentifiable something which I reflected in the grade. The full review will be published shortly.
Thanks, BJ! Look forward to reading your review!
