As a recap of the year, the Gals talked about a few of their favorite things in the past year…

Favorite listening app of 2015: It’s got to be Voice Dream Reader for IOS. It has everything I want in a book player: sleep timer, the ability to upload books directly to the app from Dropbox, the ability to speed up the playback speed if I choose, and easy-to-figure-out interfaces for the various screens. It’s pricy, as apps go, nearly $10, but it’s well worth it, in my opinion.

My favorite narrator or narration in 2015: Without question my favourite new narrator in 2015 is Alex Wyndham. I’d only listened to about five minutes of his performance in Deadly Engagement and knew, even after so short a time that I was in for a stellar listen. Having a gorgeous voice helps, but he has the skill and emotional intelligence to back it up, too. I say this with boring frequency, but there aren’t enough good male narrators when it comes to historical romance, so Alex is an incredibly welcome addition to that rather small club. I really hope that other romance authors will sit up, take note, and snap him up!

My favorite place to listen to audiobooks: This year I used audiobooks to help motivate me to meet my fitness goals. In that regard, there is no greater motivator to get to the gym than the knowledge that I will get at least an hour of uninterrupted listening time with my latest audiobook!

Favourite tech: This year I discovered wireless earbuds. No more getting cords hooked on door handles and losing my place in a book! I tried a few styles, but ended up loving a pair I picked up for $30 over the $180 pair (it is a sad thing that I didn’t buy the $30 pair first). The sound quality is great and I don’t have to worry about dangling cords anymore.

Most anticipated romantic TV Series: OUTLANDER SEASON ONE PART TWO! I mean, the producers set up an incredible first season then left us dangling for months until part two was released this past spring! But it did not disappoint – everything about this series was primo. The actors (sigh! Sam Heughan!), the costuming, the adaptation from book to movie, the music (sigh! Bear McCreary!), the locations – all A+/10 thumbs up.
Now we just have to wait a few more months for Season 2 which will cover Dragonfly in Amber.
Kaetrin, Can you give us more info on those wireless headphones you like so much? Thanks!
Yes, please. I want a pair of those headphones!
