With summer well under way – even in my part of the world! – the Gals have taken a look at what’s being released in July that we’re excited about listening to. Some of our choices have already been released and some are coming out later in the month, but whatever the case, we’ve chosen them based on the usual criteria – we like the author, the narrator or… sometimes it’s just gut instinct. Are you looking forward to any of these titles? Or is there something you’re anxiously waiting to get your hands on that we’ve missed out? Join the discussion in the comments.
Wildfire by Ilona Andrews
Narrated by Renee Raudman
The third book in the Hidden Legacy Series by the talented writer/narrator duo of Ilona Andrews and Renee Raudman releases in July, and I, for one, can’t wait to listen to it! – BJ
The third in the fabulous Hidden Legacy trilogy I’m chomping at the bit for this one. – Kaetrin
Some Kind of Hero by Suzanne Brockmann
Narrated by Bahni Turpin and Patrick Lawlor
The latest installment in the long-running Troubleshooters series releases this month. Though I’m not familiar with Bahni Turpin (a new narrator to this series), I have enjoyed Patrick Lawlor’s narrations in the past.- BJ
So excited!! I LOVED Bahni Turpin in The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas! And of course, Patrick Lawlor – amirite? This is downloading to my iphone right now! – MP
The Dream Keeper’s Daughter by Emily Colin
Narrated by Emily Woo Zeller and Roger Wayne
I’m really picky about my time travel romances, as they require a suspension of belief I’m not always capable of, but the synopsis of The Dream Keeper’s Daughter caught my attention. I love the idea of someone traveling back to a plantation on Barbatos while the love of his life searches him in the present. I’ve listened to booth Ms. Woo Zeller and Mr. Wayne in the past and have been pleased, so I’m really hoping for good things here. – Shannon
Wired by Julie Garwood
Narrated by Saskia Maarleveld
Julie Garwood is a true master of her craft. Whether she’s writing historical romances or romantic suspense, I’m glad to buy it. Saskia Maarleveld is a narrator I’ve enjoyed in the past, so this is a guaranteed great listen. – Shannon
The Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson
Narrated by Joshilyn Jackson
No one writes like Joshilyn Jackson. Every year, I wait on pins and needles for her latest release to become available, and I was lucky enough to read an early copy of The Almost Sisters in print. It’s a fabulous read, one of my top reads of 2017, and the audio version is sure to be a hit as well. Normally, I shy away from books narrated by their authors, as good authors usually don’t equal good narrators, but Joshilyn Jackson is the exception to this rule. – Shannon
Suddenly Engaged by Julia London
Narrated by Christina Panfilio
The blurb of this book totally hooked me. I love marriage of convenience books and a marriage for healthcare coverage doesn’t seem so far-fetched these days. – Kaetrin
To Sir Philip With Love by Julia Quinn
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Book five in the Bridgerton series sees Eloise running off to get married… to a man she’s never met! Julia Quinn and Rosalyn Landor really is a match made in heaven, and I’m both excited to listen and sad to know this is the last of the newly recorded Bridgerton stories. For those of us on my side of the pond, it’s going to seem as though the series is unfinished as the recordings of books 6-8 are not available here.- Caz
At last! The final Bridgerton to be recorded – although there are 3 more in the series, they are already available (in the US – sorry, Caz!) with the wonderful Simon Prebble narrating. – MP
The Beauty of Us by Kristen Proby
Narrated by Abby Craden and Sebastian York. I’ve enjoyed the previous three books in the Fusion series to one degree or another. I’m looking forward to finding out how Riley gets her HEA. – Kaetrin
Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai
Narrated by Summer Morton and Jeremy York.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this book all year. It’s finally here! Fingers crossed I like the narration. – Kaetrin
The Hunting Grounds by Katee Robert
Narrated by Carly Robins
I enjoyed the first book in this series – The Devil’s Daughter – in print, and have been looking forward to the next. I’m not familiar with this narrator, so fingers crossed! – Caz
His Guilt: The Amish of Hart County by Shelley Shepard Gray
Narrated by Tavia Gilbert
I’ve wanted to try an Amish romance for a while now, so this month I plan to finally dive in with His Guilt. My attention was caught by the intriguing blurb, the fact that it is written by a best-selling author in this sub-genre and the fact that the narration is by the fabulous Tavia Gilbert! I’m hoping this is the book that will open up a whole new romance sub-genre to me. – BJ
Cocoa Beach by Beatriz Williams
Narrated by Eva Kaminsky and Alex Wyndham
Having really enjoyed Beatriz Williams’ The Wicked City, I was keen to get stuck into her new book, set in 1920s Florida. I’ve not listened to Eva Kaminsky before, but seeing Alex Wyndham’s name listed as one of the narrators was a pleasant surprise – Caz
