Here’s our regular look at what the Gals are most looking forward to listening to over the next few weeks. As usual, it’s a fairly eclectic mix, all selected using our rigorously applied scientific methods… okay, so not really. Most of the time it’s gut instinct and based on whether we like the author or narrator! Still, whatever the method, here’s our selection of what we think most likely to capture your interest over the coming weeks.
Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost
Narrated by Tavia Gilbert
One of my favorite PNR duos, Jeaniene Frost and Tavia Gilbert, are releasing the debut of a new series, Night Rebel, set in the Night Huntress world and I for one can’t wait to listen. – BJ
I can’t imagine ever growing tired of Ms. Frost’s Night Huntress books, and this particular spin-off series looks absolutely amazing. Ian is a character I love to hate, and I’m super intrigued by the idea of him meeting his match in a serious, sexy rule-follower. Tavia Gilbert has narrated Ms. Frost’s other works with great amounts of skill, so I’m gearing up for a fabulous listening experience. – Shannon
Unzipped by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Joe Arden and Andi Arndt
Lauren Blakely books are always a reliably good listen for me. I like the concept here, of a guy trying to win back his ex only to fall for the woman who tries to help him instead. – Kaetrin
Unfit to Print by K.J. Charles
Narrated by Vikas Adams
I loved this novella when it came out in the summer. The story of childhood friends wrenched apart who then find each other again accidentally and unite to uncover the truth about the disappearances of a number of young male prostitutes in the seedier parts of London… as usual Ms. Charles’ research is impeccable – and the romance between a purveyor of porn and an uptight lawyer is delicious. – Caz
The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain
Narrated by Susan Bennett
A new book by Diane Chamberlain is something to be celebrated. This one is about a woman who is desperate to save her young daughter’s life even if it means putting her faith in a physicist who might not be exactly who he appears to be. It promises to be filled with Ms. Chamberlain’s signature blend of evocative prose and unforgettable characters. Susan Bennett is not my favorite narrator, but I’ve enjoyed a few of her performances in the past, so I’m hoping for good things.
Deadly Intent by Pamela Clare
Narrated by Kaleo Griffith
A new Pamela Clare/Kaleo Griffith collaboration is always a cause for celebration. – Kaetrin
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep
Narrated by Lauren Fortgang
I put this on pre-order just as soon as I could. Jennifer Estep is one of those authors who seems unable to disappoint me. Her worlds are engaging, her characters practically leap off the page, and Lauren Fortgang really seems to “get” her writing. This is a book I can’t wait to listen to! – Shannon
Five Years Gone by Marie Force
Narrated by Andi Arndt and Joe Arden
I don’t listen to a great deal of contemporary romance, but the blurb for this one caught my eye; a woman whose husband disappears after deployment hears nothing of him for five years and eventually begins to love again… the narration team of Arndt and Arden is bound to make this an enjoyable listen. – Caz
At Long Last by Brenda Jackson
Narrated by Ron Butler
I’ve been meaning to try a Brenda Jackson book for ages. I am a sucker for the rescue trope and help-the-heroine-recover-from-trauma is closely related so I thought this one might be a good place to start. – Kaetrin
The Heart of the Steal by Roan Parrish and Avon Gale
Narrated by Iggy Toma and Kurt Graves
I’ve heard great things about this story of the romance between a buttoned-up FBI agent and a former art thief; add two experienced narrators to the mix, and I’m up for it! – Caz
Picture Perfect Cowboy by Tiffany Reisz
Narrated by Alexandria Wilde
I’m not familiar with Alexandria Wilde’s narrations, however, Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners series is one of my favorite erotica series, so I’m looking forward to listening to the latest installment. – BJ
Rebel Hard by Nalini Singh
Narrated by Justine O Keef
My friends who have read the book are raving about how good it is. I’m in. – Kaetrin
Fury by Rachel Vincent
Narrated by Gabra Zackman
I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever for this final installment in Ms. Vincent’s Menagerie series. The story is unlike anything else I’ve recently read, and I can’t wait to learn the fate of these spectacular characters. Gabra Zackman is the perfect narrator for these books. I honestly couldn’t imagine anyone else managing to bring them to life the way she has. – Shannon
Consumed by J.R. Ward
Narrated by Jim Frangione, Hillary Huber, Jason Carpenter and Pete Simonelli
JR Ward has a new series debuting this October that has a romantic suspense theme to it with the main character being an arson investigator. I’m looking forward to trying this one to see if I can find a new romantic suspense series to get hooked on. – BJ
