Currently re-listening to Switch Hitter by Sara Ney. A very fun secret identity novella. New Adult romance.
I’m on my second Heyer novel (The Nonesuch) narrated by Eve Matheson. I really enjoyed her performance in Friday’s Child – especially Sherry – and am not disappointed! Her rhythm and inflection shines in the comedic banter….parts are laugh out loud good!
I love Friday’s Child – although I haven’t listened to the audio version, something I must rectify! Have you listened to The Unknown Ajax? The narration by Daniel Philpott is excellent. My favourite Heyer is Venetia – the audio is narrated by Phyllida Nash, who is very different in tone from Eve Matheson, but it’s a terrific performance and well worth listening to.
I agree! Both The Unknown Ajax with Daniel Philpott and Venetia with Phyllida Nash are fabulous. I wish that each of them had narrated more of Heyer’s work – and add Richard Armitage to my wish list too. It’s a crime that he only did abridged versions of 3 Heyers for Naxos!
Thank you for the recommendations. (I auto-buy your “A” grades in all Regecy and European Historicals here and at AAR)
You’re welcome :) The more recently recorded Heyer books from Naxos are all pretty good with excellent narrators; I’ve reviewed most of them here or at AAR – Sylvester, Arabella, The Corinthian, The Grand Sophy and others – well worth checking out.
And thank you for the kind words :) Sadly, there haven’t been at all many A grade historicals over the last couple of years in print or audio. The Vincy listed here is excellent and her new book (out end Nov, and, she tells me in audio at some point) is great, too, but good historicals are very thin on the ground at the moment.

I listened to A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy and really enjoyed it. Hoping for sequels also narrated by the excellent Kate Reading. I am currently listening to
Most Eligible Billionaire by Annika Martin after having listened to The Billionaires’s Wake Up Call Girl also by Annika Martin Both are narrated by Neva Navarre and Jason Clarke. Both books are unfortunately titled, in my opinion. The stories are out of the ordinary and very engaging. Recommend both or all of the above!
Looking forward to Caz’s review of A Wicked Kind of Husband.
Mia Vincy tells me that her next book (which I’ve read and reviewed for AAR, and which is excellent) is coming to audio and – she hopes – will also be narrated by Kate Reading :)
I just submitted my review of The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl, so look for it in a couple of weeks. I liked it, although maybe not quite as much as you did, Jean.
I’m currently catching up on the last few episodes of the Read Me Romance podcast, and I’m at the Date Night by Meghan Quinn week, and it’s a hilarious story. Other than that, I’m listening to Remedial Rocket Science by Susannah Nix. I just downloaded it and I’m very curious. Happy reading!
