Time for our regular look at which new and forthcoming releases the Gals are most looking forward to listening to over the coming weeks. We’ve got contemporaries, historicals, paranormals. mysteries and romantic suspense from favourite authors and narrators, and if everything here is as good as we hope it’ll be, then we’ve got some excellent listening experiences in store!
Graveyard Shift by Jenn Burke
Narrated by Greg Boudreaux
Funny, sexy, original and thoroughly entertaining, Jenn Burke’s Not Dead Yet series is one of my favourites of 2019, and I’m really looking forward to listening to this final instalment. – Caz
Someone to Remember by Mary Balogh
Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
The seventh book in the Westcott family saga, this novella comprises Matilda’s story and tells the story of her second-chance romance with the man she was forced to give up over thirty years before. Mary Balogh excels when it comes to exploring emotions, character and relationships, and with the estimable Rosalyn Landor at the helm, this is sure to be a treat for fans of historical romance. – Caz
Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J. Christopher
Narrated by January LaVoy.
I’ve been anticipating this book for ages and Ms. Lavoy is a fabulous narrator *rubs hands together* – Kaetrin
Spellbound by Dannika Dark
Narrated by Nicole Poole
The Crossbreed series is one that has been on my wish list for a long time. I’m a huge fan of the Dannika Dark and Nicole Poole writer/narrator duo from their work together on the author’s Seven series. Perhaps – with the release of Spellbound, Book 8 in this series – it’s finally time to start listening to the Crossbreed series. – BJ
Dannika Dark and Nicole Poole are one of those author/narrator dream teams. Poole has narrated all of Dark’s books, bringing them to life perfectly, and I’m sure this latest story will be no exception. – Shannon
Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan
Narrated by Allison Hiroto
Gnan’s Girls of Paper and Fire was one of the best young adult fantasy novels of 2018, so my hopes are high for the sequel. I’m hoping for a continuation of the phenomenal worldbuilding, female/female love story, and richly imagined social structure I found in the first book. Allison Hiroto is an accomplished narrator, making her the perfect choice for this series. – Shannon
Dalliances and Devotion by Felicia Grossman
Narrated by Marguerite Gavin
I read the first book in this series of historical romances set in 1870s America and although I had some reservations, enjoyed it, so I decided to try the second in audio. I haven’t listened to Marguerite Gavin before, but I know she’s an experienced narrator, so fingers crossed! – Caz
My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh
Narrated by Zara Hampton-Brown
The blurb appeals and I liked the sample of the narrator I listened to so fingers crossed! – Kaetrin
Bitter Legacy by Dal Maclean
Narrated by Gary Furlong
This is one of those books that’s been on my TBR pile for a while and one which friends have been urging me to read for ages, but I just haven’t been able to get to it. Set in London, it follows a murder investigation headed by a talented Detective Sergeant and goes to some pretty dark places. I was really excited earlier this year to learn that it would be coming out in audio as if means I’ll FINALLY be able to find out what the fuss is about – and Gary Furlong is sure to do an excellent job with the narration. – Caz
The Rise of Magicks by Nora Roberts
Narrated by Julia Whelan
I loved pretty much everything about the first two books in Nora Roberts’ Chronicles of the One series, so I’m delighted the third one is being released this month. I can’t wait to see how things turn out for the characters in this postapocalyptic series. Julia Whelan is the perfect narrator for these books, so I’m glad she’s back for the conclusion. – Shannon
Lies by Kylie Scott
Narrated by Andi Ardnt
I’m a huge fan of both Kylie Scott and Andi Ardnt, so I’m looking forward to their latest release this month. Even better it’s included in the Audible Escape Package! – BJ
What Lies Beneath by R.J. Scott
Narrated by Sean Crisden
I’m not familiar with this author but the synopsis for this one looked intriguing and Sean Crisden is someone I enjoy listening to, so I plan on picking this one up. A horror writer with writer’s block holed up in a small town and a big-city cop returned home after a tragedy are drawn together… what could possibly go wrong?! – Caz
Twist of Fate by Jill Shalvis
Narrated by Vivienne Lehenny
A novella length romance in the 1001 Dark Nights series, I’m expecting a reliably good story with excellent narration. – Kaetrin
Spy by Danielle Steele
Narrated by Samuel Roukin
This sounds like an interesting historical fiction title set at the time of World War II and thereafter, and with Danielle Steele writing it will no doubt also have elements of romance.- BJ
A Crown of Iron and Silver by Hailey Turner
Narrated by Gary Furlong
I’m completely hooked on Hailey Turner’s imaginitive and highly creative fantasy series set in near-future New York, featuring former combat Mage Patrick Collins, his werewolf partner and their slowly growing pack. In this third instalment, Patrick and Jono find themselves up against powerful witches and the fae as their attempt to track down a missing child sees them journeying past the veil. – Caz
A Wicked Kind of Husband by Mia Vincy
Narrated by Kate Reading
This is easily one of the best historical romances published over the last couple of years. A wonderfully witty – and sometimes laugh-out-loud – marriage-of-convenience story I was delighted to see it crop up at Audible, and with the fabulous Kate Reading narrating, I know it’s going to be a fantastic listen! – Caz
Oh, I love this narrator – I’ll have to check it out. – Kaetrin
Where Winter Finds You by J.R. Ward
Narrated by Jim Frangione
I’m not normally a novella listener, but I’ll make an exception for this latest installment in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It’s the conclusion to a storyline begun several years ago in The Shadows, and I’m eager to see how Ward resolves the issues her characters are facing. Jim Frangione is truly the voice of the Brotherhood books, so a fantastic listening experience is pretty much a sure bet. – Shannon
The Rise Of The Magicks
Chasing the Shadows by Maria V. Snyder, the second book in the YA Sentinels of the Galaxy series!
