It’s August already? It’s been so long since I’ve had to take notice of a calendar, I only realised mine was still on June a couple of days ago! But I have managed to remember that it’s Friday and time to take a look at what the Gals have been listening to over the last week.

I’ll be interested in hearing what you think about Slippery Creatures, Caz.
I’ve read the book twice, and loved it, but I’ve found the audio very disappointing. I’ve been listening to it on and off all week but I’m not really enjoying it.
I liked it, although I was surprised this particular narrator struggled with a Welsh accent given his alter-ego’s last name!!
I’m just finding the whole thing lacking in ‘oomph’ – sort of flat and a bit of a drag, which I find surprising. I think the book could have benefited from a more dramatic kind of narration.
But it’s Kim’s voice that bothers me most – he sounds so prissy and unsexy. I think I had imagined him with a voice like Rupert Everett – sexy and louche. I listened to him reading his autobiography at the start of lockdown and his voice is so beautiful.
Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed it – I seem to have got very picky lately!
I agree about the portrayal of Kim actually – and Will’s accent was kind of all over the place. It wasn’t horrible, but not one of MLD’s best.
I’m currently listening to The Wolfen. It has really hooked me in.
I finished Indiscreet by Mary Balogh which was decent. I ended up listening to it t 1.25X because the I felt it dragged at times. Right now I’m contemplating Lessons in French, which has been in my Audible library for years. I’ll probably start that next.
I really liked Lessons in Love – it’s one of LK’s funniest books I think.
