Gearing up for – in my part of the world – the first Bank Holiday weekend of the year.
May your Easter weekend be filled with excellent listens (and excellent chocolate!)
Here’s what the Gals are listening to this week.

I’m traveling this weekend so I’ve listened to several books while driving. I listened to A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie, narrated my Emily Fox. Earlier in the week I listened to The Moving Finger, narrated by Richard Grant. He did a wonderful job. It’s interesting that Miss Marple isn’t a major feature of the Miss Marple books I’ve listened to so far, except perhaps Murder at the Vicarage. They’re entertaining, but I do get tired of the attitude towards women in these books. They border on caricatures. I started listening to as a way to take a break from my usual, now I need to take a break from Christie’s books! :-)
I also listened to Tallowwood by N.R. Walker, narrated by Antony Ferguson. I enjoyed the story with a couple of caveats, but I wasn’t 100% happy with the narration. I also relistened to Graveyard Shift by Jenn Burke, narrated by Greg Boudreaux. Great book.
Right now I’m listening to Hope on the Rocks by Annabeth Albert, narrated by Cooper North.
I loved Tallowwood in print, but gave it a miss in audio. I’ve reviewed that narrator a few times here and he doesn’t work for me; he has a lovely voice, he’s obviously experienced and seems popular, but he strips all the emotion and humour out of whatever he narrates.
I finished by listen – such an excellent series, and I think you’d enjoy it; fantastic characters and interesting plots plus fantastic narrations.
I’m eyeing my review copy of The Long Game and wondering how long I’ll be able to hold off listening to it… it’s months since I read the book so I should have forgotten enough about it by now to be able to listen without it feeling too familiar!!
Oh, Caz, that’s just mean!! (About The Long Game.) I’m frustrated because it drops on a Tuesday which is my busiest day of the week!
What are you referring to in your second paragraph? What series would I like? I’m all ears!
Oh, sorry – I meant Eden Winters’ Diversion series – it’s SO good, and maintains the high quality all the way through.
Thank you!!
