  1. I can’t wait until Tuesday when I get to listen to The Long Game!!

This week I listened to three more Agatha Christie MIss Marple mysteries. They’ve been fun–complex and often humorous.

I also listened to Hope on the Rocks by Annabeth Albert, narrated by Cooper North. I read the review here and knew about the “daddy”kink. I agree it’s not a huge deal in the book, but it still isn’t something I enjoy much. I admit it affected my enjoyment of the book. The narration was very good.

Right now I’m listening to Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker, narrated by Joel Leslie. So far I’m loving it. Lots of feels, and the narration is great. (Duh!)

    1. I finished the Reid earlier – the book is wonderful and it’s even better in audio. I often find it awkward to say “hey, the book is great, but the performance takes it to another level” – because I don’t want to sound like I’m talking the author down – if that makes sense? But this is one of those times. Review coming soon! (Not that you need one, because I know you’re a fan…)

      1. I finished Galaxies and Oceans and really enjoyed it. Thanks for the rec. Joel does his usual wonderful job with the narration.

  2. I’m really looking forward to ‘The Long Game’ too and will be getting it in both ebook and audio. I’ve got to pick my husband up from Heathrow on Tuesday, so will listen to the audio whilst driving and read the ebook whilst hanging around waiting for him to collect baggage etc!

I finally finished listening to Alison Cochrun’s ‘The Charm Offensive’ which I enjoyed – story and narration.

I’ve also listened to Lily Morton’s ‘After Felix’, which is one of my favourites of hers. The narration was fine but I think this set of three interwoven trilogies could have done with some joint narrations to mix up the voices a bit. In this one I thought Max’s voice was so similar to that of some characters from the other books. In my mind it is his Silas voice, but was also very similar to Misha’s.

    1. I warn you, once you get stuck into the Reid you won’t want to stop!

I think it’s an occupational hazard that using the same narrator – no matter how good they are – for series that are based around friendship groups (and that also feature characters from other books) – is going to run into that sort of problem. One reason I try to space out my LM listens!
