This has been a busy audio week for me. Last weekend I listened to For Real by Alexis Hall (wonderful writing as usual, but I didn’t enjoy the BDSM aspects of the story). The narration was excellent. Next was Elusive Relations by Nicky James, which I’d read already in print and knew I’d enjoy.
I then listened to Criss Cross by Jordan Castillo Price, narrated by Gomez Pugh. I bought this in the audible sale and listened to it right away (only about 4 hours long) before deciding if I wanted to buy more books in the series while they were on sale. I enjoyed it even more than the first PsyCop book, so I bought more of the series.
I love the Valor and Doyle series so much I decided to listened to Clashing Hearts, book one in Nicky James’s Hometown Jasper series. I didn’t care for this book. (I felt like so much of the books was melodramatic, from the over-the-top dad, the dizzying change of heart by Lachlan, the overblown emotions of Easton. Then is sort of ended on a whimper.) It wasn’t my favorite narration by Russo, either. I admit it didn’t help that some of the scenes involving horses had me shaking my head.
I’m now listening to Pack of Lies by Charlie Adhara, narrated by Joel Leslie. So far I’m enjoying it.
I’m about to write my review of Elusive Relations and am hoping to get my hands of an ARC of book 3 any day now!
(The Hometown Jasper series is totally different – I reviewed Clashing Hearts here, and have listened to book 2. I enjoyed them, but they’re not a patch on some of her recent RS stuff.)
Psycop is one of my favourite series – recording of the latest book (13?) is underway – Gomez Pugh is so good I always wait for the audios to come out.
