Duncan’s Bride has been sitting near the top of our Wish List for years now. Originally published in 1990, it’s a contemporary western romance with a mail-order bride spin, a smart and confident heroine, and a hero who draws us in even as we curse his over the top alpha behavior. And now, finally, it is available in audio format as of today.
Hearing Dreamscape Audio was releasing Duncan’s Bride, we decided it was time to celebrate – something we love to do around here. And to top it off, we’re giving away five MP3 CD copies of Duncan’s Bride courtesy of Dreamscape.
Linda Howard has shown herself to be a prolific writer of romance for more than thirty years now. In all those years, she has not allowed herself to become pigeon-holed into one type of romance although those of us who are long time Howard fans can usually scent a Howard from far away. With close to fifty full length print titles, Duncan’s Bride represents her 40th full length unabridged title (not including those co-authored with Linda Jones). Duncan’s Bride was published after Howard shifted away from writing complete asshole heroes paired with doormat heroines although we must be fair – that type of romance was prevalent (and widely purchased) in the early 1980s. So although many of us around here are big Howard fans, we don’t recommend a number of her earliest titles such as All That Glitters (1982), The Independent Wife (1982), and Against the Rules (1983) – all which have been released in audio format in the past two years. But we’ll jump up and down recommending a list of at least 25 other Howard audio titles! In fact, look below our entry form and you’ll see just such a list!
And what are those full length Howard books that have yet to be released in audio format? 1984’s Come Lie With Me, 1985’s Tears of the Renegade, 1985’s Sarah’s Child, 1986’s Almost Forever, 1987’s Heartbreaker, 1988’s White Lies, and 1994’s Loving Evangeline.
