Friday the Thirteenth, huh? Curling up with a good audiobook seems like the ideal way to spend the day to me!
Here’s what the Gals have been listening to this week.
BJ
Narrated by Lauren Fortgang & Michael David Axtell
Caz
Narrated by Kate Reading
Kaetrin
Narrated by Lucy Price-Lewis
Melinda
Narrated by Andi Arndt
I started the week off with Subway Slayings by C.S. Poe, narrated by Kale Williams. Brilliant book, brilliant narration. I’m still processing (even though I’d already read it in print). Which might be why nothing else is clicking with me this week. I listened to The Promise by Felice Stevens, also narrated by Kale Williams. I liked (not loved) thie first book in this series, but I really didn’t enjoy this one. I gave it a C-. An ok premise poorly executed– no subtlety or nuance. (Gramma’s obsession with their relationship was overdone and a bit creepy.) Kale was good, but this wasn’t his best effort.
Right now I’m listening to A Touch of Fever by Nazri Noor, narrated by Zachary Johnson. It’s lighthearted, even funny in spots, and the narration is decent, but I’m finding it easy to put down. Honestly, it could be a Subway Slayings hangover.
I look forward to your review of A Scandalous Kind of Duke, Caz. I already have the audiobook and hope it help me out of this slump! :-)
I’ve had a Subway Slayings hangover for a few days, too. I kept scrolling through my Audible library and starting things and wasn’t in the mood. But I just started listening to the Vincy and that seems to be sticking, so fingers crossed!
Speaking of book hangovers, I just finished The Nothing Girl. It was an Audible Daily Deal recently and I’ve enjoyed Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s series so I thought “why not?”. It’s fantastic. Excellent narration, great humour and great story. There’s a magical horse but otherwise the story is set in our world. It’s fiction with romantic elements but there is a HEA. Big recommend from me.
Sounds interesting. I haven’t read anything by that author, although I’ve definitely heard of her. I remember when it was the Daily Deal, but didn’t know anything about it and past it by.
I just listened to the sample on Audible. The narrator sounds wonderful.
