  1. I’m interested to hear how you like Radio Static, Caz.

    It’s been a light week for me. I listened to the audio of Davo, by N.R. Walker, narrated by Glen Lloyd. Although it’s a sweet, uncomplicated romance, it benefited from the unusual setting, a western Australian mining camp. Earlier in the week I was listening to Trusting Miss Trentham by Emily Larkin and hit a scene I couldn’t get past. I gave up on the book and decided to skip the rest of the series. Claiming Mr. Kemp was my favorite by far.

    I’ve been trying to start His Duchess by Lucinda Brant, but haven’t quite been in the mood. So I’ve downloaded Gentleman Wolf by Joanna Chambers, narrated by Hamish McKinlay.

    1. I’ve been doing a couple of re-listens while I catch up with writing reviews… I’m just now finishing The Gift by May Archer… nothing new, but good narration and likeable characters.

      1. I seriously thought about relistening to the Life Lessons series, which I will do soon, but I remembered I already checked out Gentleman Wolf on Hoopla and it’s due back soon. I love the narration and the writing, but so far the story hasn’t grabbed me. It’s definitely a “what I’m in the mood for” issue and not the book itself. I think some unavoidable life stresses in the past couple of weeks have made me want books that entertain but don’t require much emotional from me.

        I listened to The Gift and really enjoyed parts of the story. I liked the MC’s. Unfortunately, two of the three books I’ve read by May Archer (all in this series) use an adult man’s inability to stand up to an emotionally manipulative mother as a central plot devise, which I really don’t like. What kept me coming back were the narrators. Iggy Toma is an old favorite, and Alexander Cendese’s talent really shines in this series.

        1. I really liked the Edinburgh Wolves books, but they do go to some dark places so I can see why you’d have to be in the mood for them.

          I picked up The Gift because it’s just been added to the Audible Plus catalogue in the UK – I do have a copy of course, but being in AP makes it more easily accessible! I would have liked to listen to the next book, about Parker and Jamie, as the author drops hints about their relationsihp through the first three, but when the books switched to self-pubs, she opted to use Michael Dean and he can be very hit and miss for me.

  2. I just looked and it looks like the novella are narrated by Michael Dean, and the books by Michael Pauley. I’m with you on Dean, but I haven’t listened to Pauley. So, hmm, they sound similar in the short clips.

    1. Same person :) I’m not outing a narrator pseudonym here, it’s common knowledge that he changed to using Dean a few years ago (I can’t remember why) so you’ll see him listed as Pauley for older titles and Dean for newer ones.
