Harper Audio has scheduled the release of Rachel Gibson’s It Must Be Love for March 12, 2013. Previously released in 2001, it’s not one you can find easily these days. With his interpretation, narrator Richard Ferrone managed to take an adored Gibson book in print and turn it into a romance mess in audio format. As an avid Gibson fan, I’m thrilled with Harper’s decision to record anew.
Julie James announced a few days ago that the audio version of her next book, Love Irresistibly, will release simultaneously on April 4th with the print version. We’ve been hoping for this news.
Pamela Clare’s Hard Evidence released on Monday to the cheers of those who have listened to Extreme Exposure and are sold on Kaleo Griffith’s performance. I’m one who is greatly looking forward to the entire I-Team series in audio with Kaleo at the narrator’s helm.
Cris, one of the two winners of our recent Pamela Clare giveaway, shared with me her thoughts on Extreme Exposure,
“Just finished listening to Extreme Exposure the other day! Normally, I prefer female narrators for romance novels because they tend to have a better range of voices and do male voices better than most male narrators do female voices, but Kaleo Griffith nailed it! His neutral narrator voice is great, and that deeper, sultry voice he uses for Reece (who’s already one of my all-time favourite I-Team heroes!) is super sexy… and Holly’s valley-girl voice is hilarious. My labmates kept wondering what I was listening to whilst doing my experiments, haha. Stoked to listen to Hard Evidence now, and super curious about how Kaleo tackles fan-favourite bad-boy Julian (despite the fact that, unbelievably, I’m not actually a Julian or Marc fangirl). And really, really looking forward to Gabe & Zach :-).”
Audible’s Coming Soon list and the ability to preorder just keeps getting better. A few weeks ago, I detailed the Audible’s romance Coming Soon list at that time over at Speaking of Audiobooks stating that,
“Among those fourteen titles on Audible’s romance Coming Soon list as of October 30th, I found publishers who have held tightly to their upcoming release information (meaning no notification of future audios) such as Harlequin (and Carina Press), Simon & Schuster, Blackstone, and AudioGo. There is also one Brilliance title (who has reliably notified us of upcoming releases at Amazon for years). Five of the fourteen titles are two hours and under in length. Another three are under seven hours. So, it can definitely be called a start.”
Yesterday, I counted twenty-five romance titles on their Coming Soon list with twenty-two eight hours or more in length and only three under seven hours. Definite progress!
Brenda has been talking about the numerous upcoming releases of Julie Garwood’s backlist here at AudioGals. I have to add that I’m especially looking forward to The Secret narrated by Susan Duerden. Its release is scheduled for 1/30/13 and it will be an immediate listen for me.
If you have been hanging out at Twitter, it may have come to your attention that Laura Kinsale is talking about audiobooks – a lot. I don’t know if anything is definite at this point but she is one author I’ll loyally follow in audio – no matter the title. I treasure her writing that much. Fingers crossed it comes to pass!
Coming Soon – Brenda’s Gift Guide for MP3 Players that work well with audiobooks just in time for choosing that special Christmas gift for the audiobook lover in your life or the soon-to-be converted audiobook lover!
